There's No Jury Duty To Worry About There

Hello Ladies! Summer seems to be whisking by in a blur and the kids will be going back to school soon. Here's some of the good news that was shared:

• Caryn Sperry received her endowments last week and will be getting married on Saturday!
• Mallory Gibbons will be getting her endowments on Tuesday at 1:30p and has invited any who would like to attend to be there. She'll also be getting married on Saturday!
• Kate Skeen got an e-mail from Linda Little. She says 'hi!' to everyone. They'll be home in 3 months, but in the meantime are very busy.
• Bunnie Kantro was able to go through the temple last week and do the work for her mother.

Marietta Sperry led our discussion on Chapter 35 - Redemption for the Dead. It made me glad that we won't be judging each other or ourselves in the world to come... we can be pretty harsh critics! I found it pretty fascinating that the Presbyterian minister officiating at Alvin Smith's funeral would intimate "very strongly that [Alvin] had gone to hell, for Alvin was not a church member". Talk about exclusive! Thank you Marietta for leading a difficult discussion in the midst of planning a wedding. We love you!

Hopefully most of you received a flyer for the "For the Troops" Enrichment night we'll be having this Thursday at 6:30pm at the Cochran Building. If you didn't, then we'll be making phone calls as well. We're going to be sewing neck coolers for soldiers that are currently doing tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. Donna Blocksage and I were able to take a mini-tour of the store front that "For the Troops" has over by Staples. What a wonderful service they do, and we're happy we're able to help them with their ongoing efforts. We will need a couple of women with sewing machines, but the rest of it will just be putting stickers on bags, putting beads in the pockets... you know, easy stuff like that. So don't be intimidated by the project, stop on by and enjoy laughing away the evening with the rest of us. See you there!
